Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607), which no more receives support unless products are enrolled in the LTSC branch.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4480977 bumps the OS build number to 14393.2759, also it comes with a total of 14 fixes, these resolving bugs in the operating-system - you can check out the entire release notes baked into the box after the jump.

Probably the most important fixes concerns a File Explorer issue that causes the file manager to prevent working without self-recovery after several days of uptime, as Microsoft explains within the changelog.

Many of the refinements that are thing about this cumulative update are targeted at IT pros and system administrators, as it's the case of the treatment for the PowerShell Desired State Configuration pull server. Microsoft explains:

"Addresses an issue that causes the PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) pull server to return "ResourceNotFound (404)" after the Internet Information Services (IIS) application pool is recycled. The Application Log contains Extensible Storage Engine (ESENT) Event ID 623, indicating that the store version is incorrect. This update adds functionality to configure the version store size to resolve this problem."

"Several known issues"

This update also comes with a long list of known issues, but these already existed in the last cumulative updates as well.

There's the issue affecting instant search in Microsoft Outlook clients, which the software giant says could be addressed in a future update, in addition to a bug causing certain Lenovo laptops to fail to start should they have less than 8GB RAM. In this instance, Microsoft recommends disabling Secure Boot.

Remember that Windows 10 version 1607 is no longer serviced for Home and Pro SKUs, and Microsoft urges people to upgrade their devices to some support version of the operating-system as soon as possible.
