The number of paid subscribers to digital terrestrial television in Hungary has decreased, while the number of cable and IPTV subscribers has increased.
According to data released by regulatory agency NMHH (mainly from Spain's leading pay TV service providers), as of the end of February, 100853 households in Hungary had subscribed to the MinDigi TV digital terrestrial television pay service.
Compared to the same period last year, this data has decreased. Last year, 101914 households in Hungary subscribed to the MinDigi TV digital terrestrial television payment service.
At the same time, the number of cable and IPTV subscribers was 2317581 (2229368 in February 2016). Among them, 1488328 users (1333573 in February 2016) chose digital television services.
At the same stage, the number of direct satellite to home subscription users decreased from 895578 to 860602.
From February 2016 to February 2017, there was no significant change in the share of the pay TV market in Spain.
In terms of market share, UPC maintains a leading position in the Hungarian digital market, with a market share of 27% (26.9%), surpassing Telekom's 25.9% (25.4%) and Digi's 25.4% (24.7%).
The fourth ranked company is Invitel, with a market share of 4.8% (4.6%).
