Microsoft has recently released a new preview build for Windows Insiders within the Dev channel, and this time, there are a lot of new features to try out.
The new Windows 10 build is 21364, and it includes early support for Linux GUI apps. Quite simply, those who installed the Windows Subsystem for Linux on their devices are now able to run Linux apps in their own individual GUI directly on surface of Windows 10.
Then, the organization has updated Task Manager with Microsoft Edge process classification as well as an eco mode, that is essentially a good way to throttle process resources.
This new build also introduces a new keyboard layout for Japanese.
"We're excited introducing a new touch keyboard layout for Japanese, 50-on touch keyboard. 50-on touch keyboard is a well-liked layout widely used for Kiosk devices in Japan. It allows you to definitely input Japanese texts intuitively not understanding how to compose Hiragana characters," the organization explains.
"You can change to 50-on layout from [?] > [50-on]. It also provides alphabet and symbol views newly designed specifically for that layout. If you notice some known issues where inserting a full-width space using Shift key doesn't work and typing some characters shows garbled suggestion candidates. We're actively focusing on addressing them. Thank you for your patience. We're looking forward to your feedback via [Give feedback] menu!"
Smaller tweaks and known issues
There's also smaller refinements in some places, together with a little tweak for night light. Microsoft says that whenever this feature is enabled or disabled manually, everything would no longer happen having a slow transition but instantly on all devices.
The alterations obtainable in this preview build could go live as part of Windows 10 version 21H2, which according to the current release calendar, should launch in the fall of the year.
